  2. i used to love playing in my tree house, picking the scabs of my knees, playing in the woods, jumping of walls, i agree it would be a lot nicer world if more children could do that again. unfortnately sometimes the society we live in now doesnt always allow us to have the freedom that we all deserve

  3. When you skateboard, you have to learn how to fall off so you're not scared when it happens by accident. It gives you confidence.

Good lessons for life in general.

  4. I don't know what the answer is here. There was much more freedom when I was a child and I used to walk to school and back home for dinner and back to school and back home for tea. I don't think there are really any more dangers these days, except for more traffic. Is protection a good thing in the end? I don't know. But parents worry, because they love you.

  5. If parents aren't very protective, wouldn't that be more worrying? I know my children say they feel very loved when i start my protective ranting...its a different world these days to the way it used to be, alot more traffic and i think it also matters about the type of neighbourhood u live in.

  6. A really interesting question. I love my children and part of that love is learning to let them go a little bit. But not too soon!!

  7. In general I would agree Wotsit, but there are a lot of 'force multipliers' that can make me change my mind, like a long drop, or a dogs jaws.

So I think it remains an open question...ie there is no definitive answer.
